BACKGROUND - Cisco IX5000

Cisco's Core Technology Group aimed to revitalize their flagship endpoint market with the IX5000, to deliver an unparalleled immersive teleconferencing experience.

CHALLENGES

The project focused on eliminating cognitive distractions caused by misaligned environments, enabling natural conversation, and promoting smooth meeting flow to enhance team collaboration. Key aspects included efficient data sharing, improving audio and visual elements, simplifying installation, reducing the intrusive feeling of cameras, and using eco-friendly materials.

SOLUTION

Our team collaborated with Cisco and Lunar to develop a triple-screen, life-size teleconferencing device that simulates an in-person conference experience. We worked on optimizing information sharing, incorporating new technology, ensuring ergonomic design, and implementing new lighting, audio, and installation systems. We also focused on custom connectors, cord management, non-intrusive cameras, and lightweight, eco-friendly materials.

USERS

The primary users for this device are C-suite executives and upper-level management who require face-to-face communication to drive solutions forward.

ROLE

As the lead designer for the consultancy, I mentored junior designers, aligned design strategies with Cisco's brand, conducted user testing, created mockups, collaborated with vendors, developed system CAD for engineering integration, and managed surfacing.

RESULTS

The team's efforts resulted in a 166% sales increase within this category. Additionally, the IX5000 received the esteemed Red Dot Best of the Best Award, further validating the project's success.
